SECRET PARADISE – Real Aurora Photo Print
It feels a little scary … It’s funny, the effect darkness keeps having on you. I’m not afraid of darkness and I know that I don’t have to be concerned about wild animals. The feeling that creeps up on you in the dark wilderness is not rational.
So I did what I always do. I faced my fear and conquered it. I knew exactly where to go. It took me about 15 minutes to get there although it wasn’t very far. But when it’s dark and you have to walk across rough rocks you shouldn’t hurry. The most dangerous thing about aurora watching is the risk of falling and getting injured.
The northern lights were not active yet. I knew from checking the space weather data that there was some potential but you can never know how active the aurora will get, or if it appears at all.
I found the little pond up on the rocks with the sea in the background and the northern sky above it. I took some self portraits when suddenly the aurora became active and started dancing across the sky. It was just past midnight.
I was glad I’d had time to get to the locations and set up my camera up before it happened. As I drove home a fox jumped up on the road in front of the car …
