COLLISION – Photo Print
Everything about this night seemed to be about contrasts. The night was warm and calm but the thunderstorm was violent and intense. It was quiet except for the distant sounds of thunder rolling over me every 30 seconds. It was beautiful and scary. But luckily I could watch it from a distance. At 23.22 you could still see traces of the sunset as it coloured the sky orange behind the storm clouds.
That, too, was a contrast to the purple lightning colour. It rained heavily in the thunderstorm but where I stood I had a starry sky above me. It seemed all those contrasts collided right there and then. I had been waiting for this moment. I didn’t know when it would come but I was constantly ready for it.
The intense thunderstorm really delivered from a photographer’s point of view. I pointed my camera alternately to the west (like on this photo) and the north and got a lightning on most of my exposures. I loved how they reflected in the calm sea water. I headed home after an hour and felt very happy that I finally got the kind of lightning photos that I had hoped to capture.
The complete story comes only with the Deluxe version so you can learn everything about it and be able to tell the story to anyone who sees it on your wall.
