Fire and Ice
You know how it is with sunsets, they keep capturing our attention although we have seen thousands of them. Well, not everyone is like this one. I decided to go somewhere where I could capture it. The only problem was time. I had only maybe 15 minutes until the sun would touch the horizon and I wanted to go to a beautiful place.
A few weeks earlier I had had a found this place just by studying maps but I had not yet visited the location. This would be a good time to go to that place and check it out, as it was only a few minutes drive from my home.
I grabbed all my gear, put on enough clothes and jumped into my car and started driving out from town and to this coastal area with summer cottages.
I parked my car on a tiny road that lead to this beach. I barely got a glimpse of the sun before it disappeared behind the trees across the water. That’s ok, though. I think the light right after the sunset to have the most beautiful colours.
Ok, it was now time to investigate the place and take pictures. Surprise, it was way better than I expected. There is a sand reef stretching 40 meters (130 feet) into the water. But now the water level was super low which meant this sand reef was dry and very easy to walk onto.
Half of it was covered with ice and the outer edge closest to the waterline was ice free with only a few ice floes lying on the beach …
